Game Pass fans can now dive into a whimsical and magical world inspired by southern folklore in South of Midnight. And if you haven’t played Rockstar’s masterpiece, Grand Theft Auto 5, Game Pass adherents can explore the crime-riddled world of Los Santos on the subscription service, too.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — a CNET Editors’ Choice award pick — offers hundreds of games you can play on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC or mobile device for $20 a month. A subscription gets you access to a large library of games, with new titles like Avowed added monthly, plus other benefits, such as online multiplayer and deals on non-Game Pass titles.

South of Midnight

In this atmospheric, architectural game, you’ll embark on an adventure in an ever-changing manor filled with 45 mysterious and shifting rooms. You’re the heir to the manor, and you’ve been tasked with exploring each room and searching for the rumored room 46. But as you explore, each decision will shape your path through the manor. Will you reach your goal or get lost in your new home?
Grand Theft Auto 5

The city of Los Santos is filled with hustlers, bank robbers and other dangerous criminals, and in this blockbuster game you play as three of these characters. You have to pull off a series of heists, outsmart members of the criminal underworld and try to survive in a sprawling open world where almost nothing is off limits.
All subscribers can access Oscar Guzman Flies Again, a GTA Online update filled with new missions centered around an in-game historic airstrip. And PC Game Pass subscribers can access the enhanced version of GTA 5 with updated graphics, and those subscribers also get additional content like Hao’s Special Works Vehicles and more.
Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition

You’ll work with others, either online or in couch co-op, to solve puzzles together. This game is perfect for a fun game night with a significant other, children or anyone else.
Still Wakes the Deep

This tale of isolation at sea comes from the creators of the cult-hit Dear Esther, as well as the survival horror game Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. In this title, you’re trapped on an oil rig in the North Sea, and an unknown horror is aboard with you. Without a way to escape or even fight back, all you can do is run and try to survive.
Wargroove 2
Game Pass Standard subscribers can play now.
Command the land, sea and sky in this Fire Emblem-style, turn-based tactics game. It’s been three years since the queen of Aurania died, and now a foreign faction is uncovering forbidden technology. It’s up to you and a cast of new characters — including a dog in armor who is just the best boy — to stop these factions from wreaking havoc across the land.
Commandos: Origins

Alarm! You’ve been selected to go on vital missions that could change the course of World War II and all of history. You’ll use stealth and special tactics to take down targets in Africa, the Eastern front and the Arctic. Hunt Showdown 1896 (PC)

It’s the end of the century, and twisted monsters and ruthless hunters stand between you and your bounty. You can play this game by yourself or with two others in co-op mode as you strive to claim the bounties of six monster bosses. Use guns, traps and the environment to take down these monsters and claim your reward.
Games that left Game Pass in April
While Microsoft added those games to different Game Pass tiers in April, the company also removed other games from the service. So you’ll have to buy these games separately now if you want to finish your campaign or do any side quests.
