Apple overtaken by Vivo & Huawei Loses its lead in China smartphone market

Apple, known for iPhone, is getting a tough competition from domestic companies in China. The company was beaten by companies like Vivo, Huawei in the fourth quarter of 2024. Reuters According to the news quoted, Canalys report says that Cupertino -based company Apple lagged behind in China. Vivo was at the forefront of beating Apple, which is now leading the market in the country. Along with this, Huawei also overtook Apple, which is now the second largest smartphone sealer in China.

However, till the third quarter, Huawei was the only company that was running one rung below Apple. But surprisingly Vivo leads both of them, in the fourth quarter, the top smartphone occupied the company in place of the company. Talking about the shares of companies in China’s smartphone market, Vivo currently holds 17% shares in the market. The second number is Huawei with a market share of 16%. At the same time, Apple’s market share is 15%.

The report said that Apple faced losses in the Chinese market because the support of AI powered features in the iPhone is still very low. Due to lack of these features, the iPhones were not attractive for users in the country. While smartphones of other brands sold in China come with a lot of AI features. This is the reason that the company faced a huge loss in annual sales in China’s market.

According to Canalys Senior Analyst Zhu Jiatao, Apple is currently facing many challenges from its rivals in the market. Huawei has been continuously launching its flagship model. The sale of domestic foldable phones in China has also increased. Companies like Xiaomi and Vivo have also managed to win the trust of users by giving priority to technical innovation. Therefore, the match for Apple in the premium segment has become even more tough. Domestic companies are launching in the market for smartphones users with affordable prices, and premium features. Due to which the color of Apple’s iPhones is starting to fade in the market.
